Southern Cowboys

Our Southern cowboys are the best,
They're known from th' East Coast to the West.
Their golden ropes curl up like snakes,
They hiss and catch the horse's necks.
The beasts are tamed by their strength.
The horses carry them away,
Away to catch the burning sun,
To touch the moon and see the stars.
At night the horses dream of sand,
To walk on dry and dusty land.
Their eyes are set on wild and strong.
Their hearts despise the roads of stone.
They long for places called unknown.
They call the flaming deserts home.
Our Southern cowboys are the best,
Their souls are tied with their mares'.
They live with them as their own.
To them I dedicate this poem.
