Spanish Jazz

We're the only two here
In this room of thirty-five
Swaying to the sounds
of these Alameda hoodrats
Poor, educated, and expressive
They fight and wait
Fight tradition, wait for the time
But for the time being,
Being in this time will do.
No blind happiness.
Black clothes, quiet applause.
Cigarettes and tapas
Beer and wine
No whine. But for a time,
In this time.
Everyone is.
