Sparkle Ruth

What a road it has been for me.
I can't remember the countless souls
I laid with pass the midnight hour.
I danced for hours at night for the love of fame and fortune.
I was a lonely lost soul looking for fulfillment in dry places.
My night life was so thrilling, shrilling,
and yet so puzzling that I never saw it come to a halt.
At the Gentlemen's Club, I met Will who was full of wisdom.
He taught me a lot about the profession and the unfriendly streets.
Our alliance led us between the warm, sizzling sheets.
It came to a halt when I received the prophecy from God's messenger.
It haunted me so much that the destructive images flashed before me.
Besides, "Sparkle" was given to me other names like the
notorious "Ho."
Finally I divorced "Sparkle,"
so I can deal with Ruth.
Through the blood of the lamb,
I was transformed into a virtuous woman.

This Poems Story

While I was on a deploment on the USS George Washington (CVN 73), I had the idea of my poem in my mind. I always wanted to create a poem or a story of a young exotic dancer who transforms her life for God. I felt the idea would be inspirational and creative. So, I brought it to life through this poem.
