Speaking of Love

Breathe in each other's cherry wood pipe
Smoke and cinnamon whiskey licks the eyelids
Closed lips open like eggshells
Cracking the car window so city air kisses
Throats slit on leather seats faded
Photographs or technicolor nightmares play
Out in bruised thighs

Speak of love in ways pleasing to the ear
Or bite the edge of the pillow when flesh
Burns in a beautiful way and blush gives way to
Scars that can be traced with lipstick
Stains left on his starched-white collar
Bones that dig into belt
Buckled knees on the hardwood floor
