Spirited Minions

By

Spirited minions dance around me
Silently, ghost-like in my life
Watching me, only sometimes
Though always there
Captured in a mist
Of haunted shadows
Playful, animated but for their
Silhouetted almost hidden movements

Spirited minions conjured
In my desire to see you again
To know that momentary
Sense of you almost touching me
In a reality of my imagination
Saddened by an illusion
Lingering all around me
Almost real, almost within reach

Spirited minions visit me
I never know when
I only know they do
Briefly, ever so briefly
That I question where
My reality becomes imagined
And my imagination becomes reality
