Standing Together

I can see that you are hurting
I can see that you are sad
For the fear that you are facing
Your son without his dad
You may not be true family
You may no more be his
But you are my grandson's mother
My son's will to live

We have a road ahead of us
We've been here once before
But together we'll get through this
Better than before
For this time things are different
Here stands a little boy
Spitting image of his dad
And Daddy's pride and joy

We have to let him go today
He has a job to do
Defending all our freedoms
For the red, the white and blue
Until the day arrives
That we hold him in our arms
For now it's "see ya later"
And being Army strong
