Starlight I and II

Starlight I

Seldom is the firmament
so bright as on this night.
Although the moon is shadowed
and gives little of her light.

Never are the stars above
so bright as on this night
and soon the rising sun will
warm the world with morning light.

Starlight II

Seldom is the firmament so bright.
Although the moon is shadowed,
the stars give light tonight.
Soon night must end,
there are flocks to tend.
While cool, damp misty fog
curls over Bonder's Bend,
shepherds rouse themselves
with morning's light.
