Starry Night

I left at dusk for the skies above me
Left with none but my back and starry eyes
Anxious and contemplating what I'd see
As the sun set I caught my breath-
and sighed

Held in the atmosphere, billions of jewels
Each with a story, a secret to keep
And there, like a hearth, a brilliant moon
Lulling the world, the sun, the sky to dreams

These skies have seen kings fall, seen Van Gogh draw
They've watched love die and rot, then watched it ignite
Seen heros stand tall, and then watched them fall
For all of life stars have brightened the sky

I left at dusk for the bright diamond night
I melted into the wonders that shined
