Still Cancer Free

At this time four years ago
My life turned upside down
When I got the dreaded news
That a tumor had been found
The doctor said "It's cancer
I'm not going to lie to you
But I've put a plan in motion
And here's what we're going to do"
I had six rounds of chemo
That caused me to lose my hair
And made me so sick I couldn't eat
It was almost too much to bear
But by God's grace and mercy
He saw fit to see me through
I had a mastectomy and radiation too
It was a long process but I am cancer free
And I have no doubt God still has
Some work for me to do
It's to use my gift of writing
To encourage those in pain
And remind them the sun will shine
After a pouring rain
