Stitches

Would you hand your heart to a stranger saying,
"Here. please don't break it,"?
Would you pass your trust to a stranger and say,
"This is yours, don't forsake it'"?
Would you show them your insecurities and say,
"Here they are. Please don't hate it,"?
What about your time? Simply adding,
"Please don't waste it."
Funny how it goes when you're looking for love
and find the first whose giving it.
But there is a thin line between love and attention,
and some never learn the difference.
They hand their most valuable assets to strangers,
and have to live with the consequences.
That is why I rather build love with time,
than heal my heart with stitches.
