Stood Up

Looking, up and down,
I see your beauty, and the reasons you may frown
I see the scars that link your past
I see your smile, I hope it lasts
I hear your heart, oh how it beats
I notice your eyes looking up the street
Looking for someone, perhaps it may be
Checking your phone, nervously
Rapid thumbs moving side to side,
Sending a text, waiting for a reply
Feet stammer, back and forth
You start to pace, but very short
You sit down, stand up, turn
Looking for something,
For something you yearn
Time passes, it seems so slow
Your stomach growls, dinner was an hour ago
The sun is setting, and it's clear to see
The something you yearn for is not meant to be
Your eyes set, just like the sun
And tears roll down one by one
Now, alone and afraid
You realize the sun wasn't the only one setting today
