I used to trail your body with my fingertips
creating a map
so if I was ever lost I would remember what home looked like

I was never the type of girl to leave
without a sense of direction
being with you made me unafraid of the unknown

I was ready to risk everything
diving into your eyes
being in your arms
hearing your voice

I knew you'd be the one to always find me
even if I couldn't find myself

so I thought

It was when your voice laid flat
the stars in your eyes vanished
the warmth of your arms turned to ice
that I became lost

the map I once trailed of your body
slowly disappeared
the ink vanishing, erasing every memory of us
the scenery I became accustomed to
now left with withering flowers

the sun has gone down
all that's left is me stranded in a storm
tied down by the last words you said
