Strange Trees

Outlandish trees guard the inner side of this land
Strange trees of tremendous heights
Colors not of brown or green
But of grays and whites
No branches come from these trees
At least there isn't one in sight
The trees bare no fruit or leaves
Life here seems improbable
Black holes infect the trees' trunks
Use of these trees seems impossible
Why have trees that can't function?
What's the use of this conjunction?
This caliginous forest blocks the view
Of what must lie behind it
It could be an absolute fascination
Or just more and more of this desperation
