The strangers that you’ve met remind you of the
familiarity of loneliness
And that feeling of insanity that refused to
set you free
These strangers feel like home
because that feeling was your home for so long

This state of pondering leaves you drained -
An empty soul; breathless, seizing to exist.
We thought that
if we tried again
there would be a way

But we watched the dam burst
the forest ignite into flames
Into twinkles that
Mesmerized our hearts
That made our veins ache with its aftermath

And your body falls at my feet
I’m stranded again
Without a clue how to swim

Close your eyes - these strangers are just passing by
