Strength Found

I hoped and prayed for something more
I held the key that had no door
But when you said I was enough
Unlock you did my outer gruff

Born with halved heart, destined to look
In every crack, cranny, and nook
She gazed through the lout to taciturn
We forged whole heart with every yearn

I stumbled down dark path in plight
Longing to see but for a light
And there it shone upon her face
Absence of dark, presence of grace

And all the world stood affable
Each passing night now laughable
The cold was not, the want was gone
And all my strength toward righteous fawn

So here I stand beneath new clouds
Cast asunder their very shrouds
Though life has left me lame again
I feel no fear with truest friend
