Stripper

Fishnet stockings a long black wig
Her makeup on just right
The platform shoes on her feet
Make her toes feel pinched And tight
36 years old Her stomachs not so flat
She stares blankly In the lighted mirror
Then takes another drag
The memory of girl
She no longer knows
Tries to crowd into her mind
She fights the urge to let it grow
So she snaps the compact shut
Along with the pain
Pulls her shoulders back
Another night to play the game
The smoke settles on the footlights
Like the hush on the crowd
The music starts its her song
Once again it's much to loud
Her moves ain't what they used to be
But that ain't what it's about
She tries to find the high
But just can't seem to fight the down
