Strong Black Woman

I'm that strong Black woman, the sway of my hips
The movement of my lips.
The way I walk, the way I talk.
From strong love I came.
Through the depths of hatred I went
The scandals of my name.
Being hard pressed on every side
To the heavens I rise high above the skies.
I reach for the impossible.
I am the unstoppable.
I am that strong Black woman. Do you remember me?
You said I wasn't gonna be anything.
You said I can't do nothing. Look at me now!
I'm on top and I will not be stopped.
Your words don't hurt me.
They make me stronger.
It makes me soar high till I reach my destiny.
High above the sky is where that will be.
Do you remember me? I am that strong Black woman!
