School is out
The kids are free
Exams are over
No more studying for eight weeks
Swimsuits are on
Water is needed
Shorts and skirts are out
Towels laid by the edge
Everyone in the water
Laughter ringing through the air
Barbeque and fruit
Smoothies and ice cream
Inflatable rafts
And paddle boards are in
The fish jump
The boy’s chase
The girls talk
Comparing each other
Parents call out’ be safe’
The kids don’t care
They dive and splash
Swim and relax
This is fun, this is summer
