Summer Dreams

I wake to sunlight warming parts of me

I didn't know were cold. I feel at ease.

I have no stress and worries seem to flee,

At least for now. I sit and feel the breeze

As warmness seeps within my skin. I think

Of what today will hold. I can restore,

Immerse myself in books, or slowly sink

My toes in sand, relaxing by the shore.

Our endless quest to capture flags endures

Until the stars and lightning bugs both glow.

We gather'round the campfire eating smores,

The frogs and crickets sing a summer show.

Alarm goes off, another freezing day

Replaces dreams of sun with snow delay.
