Summer Hail

Watch the summer hail;
Bouncing harmlessly off the pavement.
They zoom out of the sky;
Making cling and clang noises off metal surfaces.
Here and there, they take a leap;
Moving a foot or two along.
The clouds hanging low;
Keeping the wind from escaping.
The wind somewhat giving the hail a lift;
Moving the hail further than intended by God.
Forward momentum fueled by gravity;
Allowing this little ball of ice to plummet toward the earth.
A tiny kamikaze pilot;
Readily prepared to embrace the hard Earth without breaking.
A rain drop could only wish to become such a weapon;
To be part of Mother Nature's arsenal.
Watch the summer hail;
As it glides through the great blue wanders.
