Summer Heart

Gray pavement and faded yellow lines
The air soaks up the sun
Orange saturated hot, damp air
Sloshes in cigarette stained lungs
Soft black sneakers
The bottoms falling off
Crispy grass and drooping flowers
Pounding head and salty cheeks
Walking, walking for hours
Away from a smashed heart
Feel the shards in a choked up throat
Want it gone.
Throbbing heart shattered heart
Want it gone.
