Summer Nights

Do you remember those summer nights?
When we used to drink cheap vodka by the sea side?
When the days were longer,
and the rays of sunlight dissolved all shadows from our lives.
Remember those 2 A.M drives?
When we felt invincible and like we could take on the world?
Then November rains came and you were hurt.
Wanting nothing from me, and staying alert,
for emotions that crept into your heart and mind,
late at night when you thought of those summer nights.
