Summer Sonnet

We wait for summer's heat and longer days,
And curse the early dark and winter's cold
And yet, despite our wishes, neither stays
And it will be this way forever on.
The cheer and ease of summer is a gift
Relieving the chill of winter snowfall
The sunny warmth lasts and hour longer
And happiness sprouts like wildflowers.
Our enthusiasm for life returns;
We think that all of life should be this sweet
And in all of our hearts nice wishes burn
with the raise of sunlight we are complete
If life were perfect June would never end
And all our days in sunlight we would spend.
