Summer Stars

By Kat

Gazing at the stars with you,
the sky going on and on.
I reach out my hand as if to touch one.
You giggle and I smile at my foolish wish.
I hope we can always remain friends like these summer stars,
bright happy and forever shining.
But if you ever get dim,
know I will always be willing to share some of my fire.
These stars will guide our way to each other if we are ever lost.
I will shine the brightest just for you.
I lower my hand and close my eyes content with my wish.

This Poems Story

I was once told that I was a bright star but even stars have to take a break and rest sometimes. That probably influenced this poem a lot. I hope we can all be like the friend in this poem always willing to help keep others fires lit.
