Sunken Ship

The rumble in your stomach,
The pounding on your chest,
The flames around your ears,
The knives puncturing your head.

The countless sleepless nights,
The relief from the bottle,
The thoughts running track and field,
The reassurance that everything will be alright.

The sickness in your body,
The countless empty prayers,
The love is slowly moving in reverse,
The ship is surely rotting,

The foundation is crumbling,
The pain of water in your lungs,
The aching realization that,
The ship has finally sunken.
