SUPERGIRL

Dad, I will always be your little girl who used to run up to you when I got bullied
Mom, I will forever be your little helper
My brothers, I will always be the annoying sister
And my sister, I will forever be your best friend

But

By the end of the day, my name will be JUST A GIRL!
Just like any other girl I know.
A common name we are all known by.

My soul sister,
High five! We have a thing in common
Even though our name is not JUST A GIRL
We still accept to be called JUST A GIRL
Because to them, we will always be JUST A GIRL!

Dad,
Mom,
Brother,
Sister
And best friend
If there are times when you call me by my name and I don’t respond, Try calling me JUST A GIRL
That might work
For I have heard that more than my real name!

I can’t live to my full potential
Because am JUST A GIRL
I can’t be myself
Because am JUST A GIRL
I can’t study a ‘man’s course’
Because am JUST A GIRL!

I’m JUST A GIRL
Considered as a commodity
To be sold or purchased by the end of the day!

I’m JUST A GIRL
Considered to be in her husband’s shadow forever
For that’s her destiny!

Well,
My name is not JUST A GIRL!
It’s SUPERGIRL!
And if you can’t utter this name,
Forever hold your peace!
