Surrounded

Surrounded by people, yet I feel so alone.
I join in a conversation though I stand on my own.
Why does this happen? Why do I feel this way?
And no matter what I can’t break away.

A smile on my face my sadness to hide.
I laugh out loud, yet I’m crying inside.
I’m trying so hard to make it all go away.
But the feeling of loneliness just wants to stay.

Here’s hoping tomorrow will be a much better day.
