Surviving Existence

By

And in these times of strange hours
We find our friends in plants and flowers
We talk to them and they keep us safe
Reminding us to stay put in our place
We fill our days with loves and losts
And worry about essential costs
Some are blessed with working from home
But here they found themselves completely alone
With crazies starting to swirl their mind
From staying inside this whole time
We dart for the calls we used to deny
And keep a dull conversation alive to stay on the line
For those sweet minutes of talking about nothing
Are made far sweeter by talking to someone
The roads are scarce as I watch from my terrace
As I think of the children in all this unfairness
For they will grow up in masks
And their glasses will fog while breathing in class
But I suppose with or without a global crisis
We get to choose how grand life is
And just like before the world began crying
We were and are
Surviving
