I remember it like yesterday,
It was the middle of May,
We were going to a celebration,
Because we had received an invitation,
I started to make conversation,
About our new generation,
When the car swerved out of control with no hesitation,
There was something around my neck cutting off my circulation.
I woke up day later in the hospital,
Knowing I had to think rational,
I asked the nurse for my dad,
But the nurse just looked at me… sad.
She told me he was in a better place,
I instantly wised his death I could erase.
I am a survivor, so you see,
And that’s how this story came to be.
