Survivor

God sends angels from the sky
To watch while we sleep at night
Knowing you grew up trying to be tough
Knowing young ones continuously being shot
On the street where your son or daughter just walked
Where you and your bestfriend laughed and talked
Do you feel scared? Are you worried?
Well don't be
You're a survivor
Strength within yourself out shines the world
Think of being a better man, woman, or girl
Haters are big lovers in disguise
Their true colors is what you'll need to find
Nappy hair, bushy eyebrows and yellow teeth
But no one sees what's underneath
Most prefer luxurious hair, glowing skin and pearly whites
Did you think about what counts on the inside
The saying is don't judge a book by it's cover
But yet those who say it judge more than a book can offer
