Sweet Poison

The bleakness of the moon setting
Is like a light smothered by the dark
And within the night she lies
In a maudlin heap
Beneath the teary night
Sucking on sin

It is not sweet nor bitter
But has a sting, an enticing sting
As pleasant as candy

She sucks and sucks
Until the stings subdue
Watching the world
Tough yet sad
Putting on her mask
Emotionless yet harsh

The weight I am used to, she will say
The tears I overcame, she will think
The pain I forgot, she will lie

So tonight she lies
In a maudlin heap
Beneath the teary night
Sucking on sin
