Sweet Slumber

In the still of darkness,
Sweet slumber do I try,
As the sight of your smile,
Still lingers on my eyes.

My dreams, they do evade me,
And replacing them are tears,
The heart starts quickly beating,
Your voice echoes in my ears.

Mistakes there have been many,
And the truth twisted cruel,
By the hurtful words and actions,
Of this stubborn, prideful fool.

Dark cloud have you no mercy?
No sunlight in the sky.
Remains the still of darkness,
Sweet slumber do I try.
