Sweet Tea and Nicotine

Sweet tea and nicotine-
Two things my father took a liking to;
such I knew at a very young age.
Daydreams and caffeine-
Two things I took a liking to;
such I knew at a tender age.
Sweet tea and nicotine-
Two things my first love took a liking to;
such I knew at a naive age.

My life is a series of patterns-
a series of patterns is my life.
I love the ones who leave me;
the ones who leave me in strife.
I drink sweet tea to remember
and smoke these Marlboros too.
I do these things
because these things
remind me of you
