Symphony of War

A music box of war
Inside, a quartet of war's musicians
Stand poised listening
To the box's rhythmic roar

Their instruments, though filled with brass
Ring with sweet percussion
The grace of a string ensemble
With fire in its core

They wait for their crescendo
As the box counts them in
Though they've played this piece many times
They must play it once again

Beautiful in it's terror
Haunting is it's score
The polyphonic melodies
Of the symphony of war
