Systematic Dismantling

In the beginning all was compliments
forever encouraged
to be my best
positivity disappeared
a stranger arrived I
learned to fear
for now,
I could do no right
Every conversation becoming
a fight
why abandon me?
my value you
no longer see
told my words
push you away
no quarter given
yet I chose to stay
you an impassable wall
me the onion
layers peeled away
while self-esteem frays
days blurred into years
of depression and despair
silence from you
without a care
now my cupboard has
been laid bare
Skipping joyfully
to your next affair!
