Tainted Memories

Your scarlet words, they stain my heart with lies.
A clear and palpable image they paint.
Dull promises that seem to tantalize
Once cherished memories they ably taint.

My feeble mind, it holds disastrous thoughts
And yet my heart it longs to stay with you.
I watched the flow’r of passion slowly rot
Despite the radiant sun and skies of blue.

The vigour of your love, it holds me down
Beneath the ripping tides of eloquence,
Your lies roll in and pull me out to drown.
In trusting you I am now hesitant.

Your scarlet words have faded from my heart
And now the paths which cross our souls must part.
