Tainted Town

Christmas is gone but the lights are still on
the streets are all grey like the folks in my way
the pavements are littered and people embittered
the homeless are lying outside shop doors crying
for help from the many who spent every penny
on children and mothers on sisters and brothers
who dont even need the wanting they feed
the want that wont stop until it goes pop
and when will that be I wish I could see
the day that may come when all greed is done
when we think of the rest and follow the quest
to help needy people without a church steeple
its what we must do to start life anew
