Take My Heart

Lord, take my heart; please take it while it's whole.
Whatever you do o lord; please never ever let it go.
For, I will have it broken, torn apart and ripped to shreds.
I will have it beaten so severe it turns black instead of red.
I will not want to live and multiple times I will try.
But with your hands holding my heart, I know it will never die.
And when my body decides it is too tired to keep up the fight.
My heart will be right where I left it.
Wrapped up whole and untarnished, swaddled in your light.
