Takers

By JennB

There’s a name for people like you who never give back.
Who expect others to help with whatever you lack.
You’re going to get everything that you’re due.
Always griping and whining, “What’s in it for you?”
Complaining and crying that life got you down.
You don’t have as much as some people around.
You’ve been mistreated and you’ve been misled.
Why should you work hard, isn’t that what you said?

You’re just a taker, you give nothing back.
A taker, expecting others to act.
You take more and leave less, that’s what you do.
Just a taker, is the best name for you.

It’s everyone else. It’s where you were born.
It’s the family you have, or the loss that you mourn.
It can’t be you. No, you aren’t to blame.
It can’t be the poor choices, or decisions you made.
You harbor resentment and turn it into pain.
Let jealousy eat you up, and slowly go insane.
Yes there’s a name for people like you.
Who think the world owes them, so give you what’s due.

You’re just a taker, you give nothing back.
A taker, expecting others to act.
You take more and leave less, that’s what you do.
Just a taker, is the best name for you.

If you take one thing from me, let it be this advice.
The world owes you nothing. So you better think twice.
Think twice before claiming something you didn’t really earn.
Be thankful and grateful, and give in return.
Takers take and leave nothing, you see.
Instead, give to others, that’s the best legacy.

You’re just a taker, you give nothing back.
A taker, expecting others to act.
You take more and leave less, that’s what you do.
Just a taker, is the best name for you.
