Tale of the heartbroken

Dark days, those cold nights,
Frightened, no one in sight.
Reckless efforts, unwanted fights,
He hated her, was this really right?

Hateful silence, that pounding fear,
Heart ached, eyes shed tears.
Replayed memories, wished he was near,
He left, he didn't want to hear.

Dead inside, those mute screams,
Broken promises, scary dreams.
Wet pillows, heartbreak burned like steam,
He lied, they were not a team.

Rude words and burned letters,
Time passed, her world seemed better.
Hope smiled, she was free from fetters,
He realized, now could he get her?
