Tattered Sweater

Somewhere in the depths of a country
in the shadows of a town
resting in the crevices of a house
there lies a memory

It could be sad, happy, aggravated
meaningless, priceless, meaningful
but nonetheless it lays untouched
whether treasured or disregarded
it lays untouched, a memory

Maybe a hundred dollar antique necklace
passed down from great-grandmother
to granddaughter,to mother, to daughter
or it's something your first love gave
you on the first date,
like an old tattered sweater
