Tears to Quench

I can't help but think again
Of the world a world away
Where emptiness remains
And tears have yet to quench thirst

A grumble is heard throughout the streets
Made by those with empty plates
Slowly another falls
Each one adding to the other

The pebbles shake in a reaction
But not from the men marching in a pattern
It is she who once again moves the earth beneath these houses
Houses that only last one quake

The tears continue like large waves
That flood the streets once filled with noises
When the monster has settled the people all wait
And listen to their grumbles

Why does Mother favor me?
With my silent self so eerie
Though they are far, I hear them from where I sit
On a chair that's firm and steady

Tears have yet to quench thirst
Where emptiness remains
In the world a world away
I can't help but think again
I can't help but think again
