Temporary

A mother's love is temporary.
You can't stay in her arms.
One day they're purple, cold, and stiff; her hug is no longer warm.

A mother's love is temporary.
Her words will lose their ring,
So now the plans and promises are only dreams and things.

A mother's love is temporary.
Her heart can't keep its beat.
As does the bass within a song,
In time, it too must cease.

A mother's love is temporary.
Her smile will lose its glow.
The body lies in front of you: a shell without a soul.

But a mother's love is forever,
For though the body dies,
Her spirit lives with you inside and guides you in your life.
