Thalassophobia

She had oceans in her eyes
For all who would dive in
But, unfortunately, the boy she loved
Never learned how to swim
So forever he kept his distance
His feet planted on dry ground
For if he took a step in water
He knew he'd surely drown
It was not that he hated
The oceans in her eyes
But the sea was truly
His God-destined demise
This young girl was not deterred
But determined for his hand
For she composed a note for him
Written among the sand:
"Do not fear the water
Or the salt against your skin
For you are fire and I am water
But love will always win."
