Thanksgiving Day

Fall arrives and its effects are seen
The leaves painted, no longer green.
Red, yellow and orange glow bright
The days grow shorter, here comes the night.

Thanksgiving arrives soon there after
The homes filled with friends, family and laughter
As they celebrate this wonderful holiday of old
Through the generations the story is told
Pilgrims and Indians sit down together
Giving thanks for the food, health and weather.

We celebrate this event in modern day
Let's be careful to not let it slip away.
Black Friday ads are constantly streaming
It would be easy to skip ahead and lose the meaning
Let's slow down and look at our lives
Saying thanks to our sons, daughters, husbands, and wives.
Count your blessings and enjoy the day
Before you know it they've gone away.
Christmas will be here in due time
Happy Thanksgiving to your house from mine!
