The Absence of Light

My heart has turned cold and hard,
Too much of reality does this to you.
Hands shaking, adrenaline pumping, and the craving for destruction
Flows through my veins.
Emptiness is something I have become accustomed to.
Eventually the aches of tortured past finally let go
And I am free.
But this is an unknown feeling,
To be lost in the autumn leaves and have nothing else to fall back on
Except for distant hopes of a possible future.
A permanent corruption lingers in my thoughts
And anger motivates my actions
Because nothing else matters
When your soul is lost in darkness.
