The Amaricon Pledge of Allegiance

Choke on your flowery language and tell me what it means to suffer

Melt down your riches and worth and pay me my reparations

Seize your comfort zone and join me on the fringes of civilization

Tie down your wrists with your trauma and hand me my rights to expression

Turn in your privilege on a badge,
wrapped around your liberty in a gun,
and rationalize my freedom

Salute my fallen elders, rejoice my noble hymns, and remember who you were as a child

Forget what you’ve been taught to respect and succumb to what it is you believe.

See me in my skin, hear me in my human, and center my life next to yours.

May your actions be all but what’s archaic, abhorrent, and untrue.

May your truths engender a birth of new, radical thinking.

May your thoughts be the hope that releases your fear and the fruit that unburdens your soul.
