The Angel of Death

I saw an angel today,
she greeted me with a smile.

She tried to tell me it was all okay.
She saw the crash and was at the scene
just so that they would feel no pain.

No survivors is what was said.

As she took their hands and walked away,
gave us no time for goodbyes or even a wave,
we couldn't even tell her we loved her.

That's why we are here today, angels by our sides
to show how we feel and to say goodbye.

But she already knows what we'll say.
She wants us not to worry,
to know she is in a better place.

But nothing will fill this empty space.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
The angel did her job.

There is nothing we can do.
Just know we are here missing you.
