The Apple Tree
In my back yard stands an apple tree.
It’s has a message for all to see.
Though it’s not my largest tree.
It ‘s branches talk the most to me.
Three times lighting has struck the tree.
Woodpeckers drill holes constantly.
It’s twisted and burned profusely.
Last year half of it ceased to be.
In spring, it’s blooming and green to see.
It grows and bears fruit defiantly.
Life’s been tough for that apple tree.
For me it’s an example I try to be.
When life’s rough I think of the tree.
Like it I strive to continue defiantly.
People say I’m full of tenacity.
I say no, I’m just trying to be a tree.
