The Ballad of Sheila

There is a wonderful lady like no other,
To my dad she is his mother,
I can always depend on Nan,
She is my biggest fan.

We'd watch films ‘til late,
At night stories she would create,
We had ice-cream even if it was cold,
But only if we did what we were told.

One day she took a arm braking fall,
But she was strong, she came back standing tall,
But something was wrong,
They found something in her that didn't belong.

Suddenly she started to get weaker,
Like this poem, the mood got bleaker,
I found out she didn't have long left,
And her life to cancer became the victim of theft.

There was a lady like no other,
And i'm proud to say she was my grandmother,
I depend on the doctor's and man,
To save my nan.

Now i write this poem in her memory,
Because i've already said goodbye at the crematory,
I'll try to be like her and try to hide the pain,
All until i see her again.
